Van & Light Commercial Servicing in High Wycombe

A van off the road costs money, so RH Automotive turns servicing and MOTs around quickly on West Wycombe Road in High Wycombe. We're approved for Class 7 MOTs, covering vans up to 3,500kg, and we service light commercials to the same fixed-price schedule as cars.

Class 7 MOT, and servicing at the same fixed prices as cars

RH Automotive tests and services vans and light commercials as standard, not as an add-on. Class 7 covers vans between 3,000kg and 3,500kg; smaller vans are tested as Class 4. Servicing follows the same interim, full and major schedule as cars, at the same fixed prices, with the same 30 or 50-point checks either way.

MOT class

Does my van need a Class 4 or Class 7 MOT?

It comes down to the van's design gross weight, not how it looks or feels to drive. Class 4 covers vans up to 3,000kg and Class 7 covers 3,000kg to 3,500kg. RH Automotive is approved for both, so you don't need to work it out before you book.

MOT classes for vans and the vehicles each one covers
ClassCoversTypical vans
Class 4 Goods vehicles up to 3,000kg design gross weight Car-derived vans, small panel vans, pickups
Class 7 Goods vehicles between 3,000kg and 3,500kg design gross weight Transit, Sprinter, Crafter, Master, Ducato, Luton vans, box vans, larger pickups and tippers

Not sure of the weight? It's stamped on the VIN plate, usually inside the driver's door frame or under the bonnet. Tell us the registration and we'll check for you. Getting the wrong class booked just means a second visit, so it's worth confirming before you turn up.

Straight answers

Van servicing questions we get asked

Do you service vans and light commercials as standard?

Yes. RH Automotive services vans and light commercials as standard, using the same interim, full and major schedule as cars. Higher-mileage, load-carrying vans often need attention sooner than a car on the same schedule, particularly brakes, clutch and suspension.

What wears faster on a van than a car?

Brakes, clutch and suspension, mainly. Vans carry more weight more often, and stop-start driving adds extra wear on the clutch and brakes. RH Automotive checks these areas closely at every service, not just at MOT time.

Tyres take more of a beating on a loaded van too, so it's worth checking tread depth and pressures more often than you would on a car. See brakes and suspension, clutches and cambelts or tyres if something's already showing symptoms.

Can I book a service and MOT together?

Yes, and it's usually easier than two separate trips, especially if the van's off the road while it's booked in. Tell RH Automotive when you book and we'll arrange the Class 4 or Class 7 MOT alongside the service in one visit.

Do you work on Transit, Sprinter and similar large vans?

Yes. RH Automotive services and MOTs the common vans on the road today: Transit, Sprinter, Crafter, Master and Ducato among them, along with Luton conversions and smaller car-derived vans. If you're not sure which class your van needs, send us the registration and we'll check.
